Basketball Recap: Mead Comes Up Short

Mead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 65-54 to the Legacy Lightning. The Mavericks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lightning apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Mead still got an impressive performance from Matthew Angelo, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points along with seven assists and five boards. Angelo's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Windhorst, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 12 points and seven boards.

Legacy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaedon Ward led the charge by going 8 of 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Ward is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Allshouse, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and seven assists.

Mead's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Legacy, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Mead didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-55 win against Riverdale Ridge on the 8th. As for Legacy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fairview at 7:00 p.m. Legacy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
