Soccer Game Preview: Birdville vs. Argyle

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Birdville challenge Argyle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Birdville's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Birdville lost 6-1 to Colleyville Heritage on Friday.

Meanwhile, Argyle hasn't lost a match since January 24th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They never let Ryan get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Raiders are ranked 475th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Argyle's one-goal win came courtesy of Austin Roberts, who's now up to 12 this season.

Argyle has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those seven contests. Birdville's loss dropped their record down to 1-16-1.

Birdville suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Argyle in their previous matchup back in February. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Birdville was down 5-0.
