Volleyball Recap: Woodward Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Midtown

Woodward Academy faced Midtown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The War Eagles fell 2-0 to the Knights. The War Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Woodward Academy's offense was headlined by Leah Scantlebury and Jade Williams, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Marissa Jones and her 17 assists. Paige Drayton controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

With the defeat, Woodward Academy broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-4. As for Midtown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-5.

Coming up, Woodward Academy will venture away from home to challenge Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midtown, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Walton on the 13th.
