Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Polytechnic). They never let the Wyatt Chaparrals get on the board and left with a 34-0 victory on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Parrots with their most commanding win of the season.
Angel Montenez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Rodriguez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and seven RBI. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Parga was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Polytechnic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .857. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
