Basketball Recap: Make It 14 in a Row for East Duplin

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but East Duplin had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They took down the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs 49-31. The Panthers are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 14 straight.

Jamyah Pickett was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Cave, who posted 13 points and five steals.

East Duplin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 50 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Despite the defeat, Wallace-Rose Hill had strong showings from Nevaeh Dobson, who scored 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks, and Sophie Sloan, who earned six points. That was a full 45.2% of Wallace-Rose Hill's points, marking the third time in a row Dobson has had more than a third of the team's points.

East Duplin pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points over those games. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

East Duplin will take on Southwest Onslow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Duplin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. Wallace-Rose Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
