Basketball Recap: Lorain Comes Up Short

Lorain lost against Avon back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lorain Titans had to suffer through a 62-33 loss at the hands of the Avon Eagles. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-17.

When it comes to explaining why Lorain lost, don't look at Brajhia Phillips. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Phillips a new career-high in boards.

Avon can attribute much of their success to Amelia Holbrook, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. Abby Owens was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 12 points.

Lorain dropped their record down to 9-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Avon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.

Lorain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-53 win against Garfield Heights on the 31st. As for Avon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-32 loss against Olmsted Falls on the 1st.
