Basketball Game Preview: Lehi Pioneers vs. Pleasant Grove Vikings

The Lehi Pioneers will challenge the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lehi is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season.

Lehi is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lone Peak, who was ranked 11th at the time (Lehi was ranked 19th). Lehi took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lone Peak. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Lehi saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Easton Hawkins, who posted 21 points and six boards, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Hawkins' third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Saxon Young, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove came up short against Skyridge on Tuesday and fell 60-51.

Lehi's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Pleasant Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Lehi didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Pleasant Grove in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 74-68 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pleasant Grove's Ty Palmer, who went 9-for-11 on his way to 22 points.
