Basketball Game Preview: Freeland Falcons vs. Carman-Ainsworth Cavaliers

The Freeland Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Carman-Ainsworth Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Freeland has three straight wins, Carman-Ainsworth has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Freeland made easy work of Swan Valley and carried off a 50-27 victory. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Carman-Ainsworth came up short against Mt. Pleasant on Friday and fell 54-41. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Oilers are ranked 92nd).

Freeland's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Carman-Ainsworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Freeland took their victory against Carman-Ainsworth when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 71-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freeland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
