Basketball Recap: Goldsboro's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to 15

It's playoff time, and Goldsboro had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victor by a 54-32 margin over the St. Pauls Bulldogs on Friday. The score was close at the half, but the Cougars pulled away in the second half with 30 points.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zakoreya Davis, who posted four points in addition to ten rebounds and six blocks. Davis has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Zhari Shipman, who scored 12 points.

The victory (which was Goldsboro's 15th in a row) raised their record to 24-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points over those games. As for St. Pauls, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 20-5 record.

Looking ahead, Goldsboro will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southeast Alamance at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Goldsboro has won nine straight at home, while Southeast Alamance won 12 straight on the road), something that'll have to change. St. Pauls does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
