Basketball Recap: Montour Beats Blackhawk for Their Eighth Straight Win

Montour waltzed into their game on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They breezed by the Blackhawk Cougars to the tune of 79-37. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Montour to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ama Tening Sow, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 boards. Sow is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. Colton Straight was another key player, going 9 for 15 en route to 21 points.

Montour smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Montour pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Blackhawk, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Montour has already played their next game, a 70-52 victory against Pine-Richland on the 26th. Blackhawk has also already played their next match (against West Allegheny), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
