Baseball Game Preview: Pioneer Valley Regional Panthers vs. Hampshire Regional Raiders

Pioneer Valley Regional is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will welcome the Hampshire Regional Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Pioneer Valley Regional is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

On Friday, Pioneer Valley Regional got the win against Southwick Regional by a conclusive 10-1.

Ethan Quinn made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Quinn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Quinn is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex McClelland, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Braeden Tsipenyuk, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Hampshire Regional came up short against Frontier Regional last Friday and fell 7-3.

Pioneer Valley Regional pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hampshire Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
