League recap: Covenant tops Valley to extend winning streak

TAPPS Six-Man Division I District 2 (6 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012

Covenant extended the longest winning streak in TAPPS Six-Man Division I District 2 (6 Man) this week by beating Valley, 38-24. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Calvary Academy took down Harmony 96-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Justin Rush threw for 101 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

The Lions' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Jesse Wells chipped in 76 yards. Wells helped Calvary Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.

Matt Hood was the best wideout in the league this week as Calvary Academy topped Harmony. Hood racked up three receptions for 82 yards.

Matt Schaefer made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bernard Daniel/Lionel Gillespie's team beat Harmony. The freshman pulled down one interception.

The Lions' Rush and Wells have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Rush has thrown for 502 yards this season, while Wells has 14 catches for 217 yards. AJ McCort from Harvest Christian leads the league in rushing with 835 yards.

Calvary Academy led TAPPS Six-Man Division I District 2 (6 Man) in scoring this week after putting up 96 points on Harmony. Rush in the win.
