Football Game Preview: Solanco Golden Mules vs. Fleetwood Tigers

The Solanco Golden Mules are taking a road trip to face off against the Fleetwood Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Solanco has seven straight wins, Fleetwood has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Solanco will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Cocalico, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Golden Mules blew past the Eagles, posting a 38-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Mules, who have now won seven contests by 28 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Johnny Garcia, who rushed for 175 yards and three scores on only 14 carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Solanco also got a significant boost from Kris Burgos-Wise, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-3, which was the final score in Fleetwood's tilt against Manheim Central on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 379th, while the Barons are ranked 164th).

Solanco's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Fleetwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Solanco against Fleetwood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Mules since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
