Football Recap: St. Mary's Prep Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Lorenzo Barber and Jabin Gonzales + How To Watch

St. Mary's Prep was the 51-10 winner over Brother Rice when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eaglets fell 43-31 to the Warriors on Friday.

Jabin Gonzales and Lorenzo Barber certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Gonzales threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.4% of his passes, while Barber gained 89 total yards.

Brady Salach was nothing short of spectacular for Brother Rice: he threw for 306 yards and five TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. Luke Yarema did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 69 receiving yards.

St. Mary's Prep's record is now 5-2. As for Brother Rice, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Prep will welcome River Rouge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Brother Rice, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sterling Heights Stevenson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
