Volleyball Recap: Effingham County Takes a Loss

Effingham County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the May River Sharks. The Rebels were not able to make up for their loss to the Sharks from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

While Effingham County ultimately came up short, they really made May River work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 28-26.

Effingham County's offense was headlined by Brynley Jordan and Jordyn Powell, who picked up four kills apiece. Jordan really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with four. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Effingham County now has a losing record of 4-5. As for May River, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Coming up, Effingham County will square off against Lakeside at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Rebels' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for May River, they will venture away from home to challenge Bluffton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
