Volleyball Recap: Willmar Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Willmar was the 3-0 winner over Sartell-St. Stephen when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals fell just short of the Sabres by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

Willmar couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Sartell-St. Stephen a tough time in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 19-25, 29-31, 25-20, 16-14.

Despite the loss, Willmar still got an impressive performance from Jordan Blahosky, who had 11 digs and two aces. Blahosky is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Maddison Molacek also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Willmar's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5. As for Sartell-St. Stephen, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-5.

Coming up, Willmar is taking a road trip to square off against Brainerd at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sartell-St. Stephen, they will be taking part in a tournament against Maple Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
