Pulaski County hasn't had much luck against Danville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Pulaski County will head out on the road to challenge Danville at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Pulaski County had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Model on Thursday. Pulaski County was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Model. That looming 11-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Maroons yet this season.
Cal Miller was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Levi Stykes looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kade Hargis, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Will Adams was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base.
Pulaski County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Danville faced Campbellsville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Danville was the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Campbellsville. While the Admirals didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Hayden Foster made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.
In other batting news, DyiRon Moody was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Fox Spears, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
The win (which was Danville's seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Pulaski County, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
Pulaski County couldn't quite get it done against Danville in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 as they fell 5-0. Can Pulaski County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
