Columbus North and Fishers are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Bull Dogs will challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Columbus North has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with six straight defeats, while Fishers will come in with four straight wins.
Columbus North couldn't beat Terre Haute South Vigo on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Bull Dogs fell just short of the Braves by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Bull Dogs have lost by just one run.
Dillon Long was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brock Kintner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Whaley, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, Fishers had just enough and edged out Franklin Central 4-2 on Saturday.
Hayden Werner tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Fishers saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Strole, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Strole a new career-high.
Fishers pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Columbus North, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
Columbus North skirted past Fishers 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bull Dogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
