Volleyball Recap: Fairfield Find Success

After losing to Benton the last time they met, Fairfield decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mules had just enough and edged out the Rangers 2-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mules have posted against the Rangers since October 21, 2017.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Fairfield who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 19-25, 15-10.

Fairfield can attribute much of their success to Alexa Newman, who had 16 assists and six digs. That's the most assists Newman has posted since back in September.

Fairfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. As for Benton, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-10.

Fairfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Centralia on the 25th. As for Benton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Massac County on the 25th.
