While losing is never fun, Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 702nd, while Veritas Christian Academy is ranked 242nd).
Veritas Christian Academy was led to victory by Ashton Dillon and Eli Robbins. Dillon scored 25 points, while Robbins scored 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dillon has scored at least a third of Veritas Christian Academy's points. Lee Burgess was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7. As for Veritas Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy will take on Lake Lure Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Veritas Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Christian Family Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Christian Family Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
