The Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders will face off against the Wilson Area Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Notre Dame-Green Pond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.7 runs per game this season.
Notre Dame-Green Pond made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Palmerton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Blue Bombers on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Crusaders considering their two-run performance the game before.
Emily Szczepanski made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Szczepanski was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Riley Palank and Hannah Lilly did most of the damage at the plate: Palank went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Lilly scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Bedics, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Notre Dame-Green Pond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Wilson Area was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They came up short against Northwestern Lehigh, falling 17-2. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Wilson Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Fredericks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Wilson Area's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Notre Dame-Green Pond hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .443. However, it's not like Wilson Area struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Notre Dame-Green Pond beat Wilson Area 8-5 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
