Conneaut Area hasn't had much luck against Cathedral Prep recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will take on the Ramblers at 4:30 p.m. Conneaut Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Conneaut Area blew Girard out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Girard got their revenge. The Eagles fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 8, 2025.
Hailey Gilliland and Abby Potts did some serious damage despite the final result: Gilliland went 3-for-4 with two runs, while Potts went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cathedral Prep). They skirted past Conneaut 14-12.
Kendyll Steves made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Steves was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Baldi, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Raucci also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Conneaut Area's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Cathedral Prep, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-14.
Cathedral Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Conneaut Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. It's a different story for Cathedral Prep, though, as they've only averaged .205. Will they be able to contain Conneaut Area's hitters?
Everything went Conneaut Area's way against Cathedral Prep when the teams last played back in April, as Conneaut Area made off with a 16-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
