Basketball Game Preview: Luling Eagles vs. Nixon-Smiley Mustangs

Luling and Nixon-Smiley are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Luling Eagles will take on the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Luling needed a bit of extra time to put away Karnes City. They snuck past the Badgers with a 55-50 victory.

Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley hadn't done well against Stockdale recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Nixon-Smiley came out on top in a nail-biter against Stockdale, sneaking past 59-56.

Luling is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Nixon-Smiley, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Luling might still be hurting after the 74-50 defeat they got from Nixon-Smiley in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Luling avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
