Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Yellowjackets vs. Itasca Wampus Cats

The Meridian Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Itasca Wampus Cats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Meridian is headed into Tuesday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They lost to Crawford at home by a 60-42 margin on Friday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Itasca). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Valley Mills 63-14. Given the Wampus Cats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 646th, while the Eagles are ranked 1610th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Itasca, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-9.

Meridian was able to grind out a solid victory over Itasca in their previous meeting on January 3rd, winning 55-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Meridian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
