Basketball Recap: Barstow Takes a Loss

Barstow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 71-55 to the Washburn Rural Blues.

Washburn Rural's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaden Ballard, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. Those 22 points gave Ballard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amare Jones, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Barstow's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Washburn Rural, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Barstow will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on KIPP Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Barstow is facing KIPP Legacy at the right time seeing as KIPP Legacy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Washburn Rural will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Junction City at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Junction City will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Washburn Rural surely won't give up without a fight.
