Recap: Chavez Titans vs. Liberty Hawks
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Chavez Titans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell just short of Liberty by a score of 34-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Chavez's lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Santana Morales, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Julian Ochoa, who picked up 98 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Leading Liberty to victory were Brody Harlow and Noah Bonilla. Harlow gained 155 total yards and two touchdowns, while Bonilla threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt. Liberty also got help from Caleb Sisco who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.
Chavez has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Liberty, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
Chavez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Wasco at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Wasco is on a three-game streak of home wins, Liberty a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
