Volleyball Recap: Mapleton Mounties vs. Independence Blue Devils

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mapleton can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Independence Blue Devils on Saturday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-8, 25-12.

Independence's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alberta Moreal, who had four digs and four aces. Moreal is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sofia Pichert, who had seven digs and two aces.

Mapleton's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-19. As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Mapleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Independence, they will play host again on Wednesday to welcome Oberlin, where the match is scheduled at 5:00 p.m.
