Baseball Game Preview: Woodlan Warriors vs. Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Cadets

Woodlan hasn't had much luck against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Cadets at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with ten defeats in a row, Woodlan turned things around against Heritage on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Patriots 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 17th.

Nolan Meeks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jordan Halsey was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 matchups. Drew Fleek also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Woodlan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran came out on top against Wawasee on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run first inning. The Cadets put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 12-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cadets in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Woodlan's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-12. As for Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, their record is now 6-9.
