Baseball Preview: Southwestern Rebels vs. Milan Indians

Southwestern is 9-1 against Milan since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Rebels will take on the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Southwestern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Southwestern is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over New Washington on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won nine in a row.

Braxton Lewis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Lewis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Southwestern got a massive performance out of Jeter Chatham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Chatham is becoming a predictor of the Rebels' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Barron Welsh was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
