Softball Recap: Loveland's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Loveland had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Walnut Hills Eagles a 15-0 shutout on Monday. The Tigers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29th (when they won 16-1).

Maddie Raih was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Raih was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Olivia Williams and Summer Rohlfs did most of the damage at the plate: Williams got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Rohlfs went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that Rohlfs has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Grace Alkire, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Loveland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-8. As for Walnut Hills, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Loveland will square off against Kings at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Walnut Hills, they will take on Lebanon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
