Soccer Game Preview: Elk City vs. Newcastle

For the first time this season, Elk City will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Newcastle Racers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elk City has given up an average of 3 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Elk City lost 8-1 to Eisenhower on Thursday. Elk City have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Newcastle's match on Tuesday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. They put the hurt on Duncan with a sharp 4-0 victory. Considering Newcastle have won five games by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Duncan with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Hudson Stewart (2), Nate Holt, and Conner Espinosa.

The win made it two in a row for Newcastle and bumps their season record up to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. As for Elk City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Elk City came up short against Newcastle when the teams last played back in February, falling 2-0. Can Elk City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
