            Burns won the last time they faced Bessemer City and things went their way  on Friday too. The Burns Bulldogs snuck past the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets with  a  73-69 win. Given the Bulldogs' advantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings  (they are ranked 190th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 396th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.

Burns got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Jadon Beam out in front who  dropped  a double-double on 24  points and 11  rebounds. The dominant performance gave  Beam a new career-high in  boards.  Tye Clay was another key player,  going 8 for 17  en route to 22 points and seven  rebounds.
 Burns  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 20  offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least eight  offensive boards in 12 consecutive  games.
 Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Tristen Gordon, who  dropped  a triple-double on 22  points, ten  boards,  and ten  assists. Gordon has been hot, having  posted eight or more  assists the last seven times he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Raheem Mcclure, who  went 8 of 17  on his way to 18 points and five  rebounds.
Burns is  on a roll lately: they've  won nine of their last ten matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record  this season. As for Bessemer City, their defeat was  their fourth straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 12-10.
 Looking ahead, Burns will be playing in front of their home fans against East Gaston  at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. East Gaston knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Burns likes a good challenge. As for Bessemer City, they will head out to  face off against Cherryville  at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Bessemer City is facing Cherryville at the right time seeing as Cherryville is stuck on  a  17-game losing streak.
