Basketball Recap: Academy of Richmond County Takes a Loss

Academy of Richmond County lost against Westside back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Academy of Richmond County Musketeers fell 73-62 to the Westside Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Musketeers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Patriots are ranked 110th).

Dontrell Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Westside, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Jackson has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jarious Adkinson, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and five boards.

Academy of Richmond County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Westside, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy of Richmond County will take on Howard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Academy of Richmond County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Westside, they will face off against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Baldwin likes a good challenge.
