Volleyball Game Preview: Burney Raiders vs. CORE Butte Lynx

The Burney Raiders will take on the CORE Butte Lynx at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Burney lost 3-0 to Redding Christian on Thursday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-11, 25-14.

Despite the defeat, Burney had strong showings from Ciera Wilson, who had 37 digs, and Alexis Witzel, who had 25 digs and seven kills. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted 22 or more digs the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aimee Hampton, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Paradise Adventist Academy typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday CORE Butte proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Cougars 3-0. The Lynx haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-21, 25-14.

Burney now has a losing record of 10-11. As for CORE Butte, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.

Burney might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from CORE Butte when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Lynx's Allison Freimuth, who had 38 assists and seven digs.
