Football Game Preview: Biglerville Canners vs. York Catholic Fighting Irish

Biglerville is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and York Catholic a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Biglerville Canners will be playing at home against the York Catholic Fighting Irish at 7:00 p.m.

Biglerville is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bermudian Springs on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Canners lost 33-7 to the Eagles.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask York Catholic). They strolled past York County Tech with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 32-14. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Fighting Irish considering their seven-point performance the contest before.

York Catholic found their leader in sophomore Michael Staub, who rushed for 140 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Guetchine Aristilde was another key player, rushing for 85 yards and one score.

York Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

York Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Staub and Alex Kipple.

York Catholic now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Biglerville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Biglerville and York Catholic were almost perfectly matched up in their previous matchup back in August, but Biglerville suffered an agonizing 15-14 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Fighting Irish's Callahan Murphy, who picked up 160 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Now that the Canners know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
