Basketball Recap: Cordova Comes Up Short

Cordova was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 51-27 to the Southwind Jaguars. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Camille Sanders had a dynamite game for Southwind, almost dropping a triple-double on 19 points, nine boards, and 11 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sanders has scored at least a third of Southwind's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlisa Mungen, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Cordova's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Southwind, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-10.

Cordova didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-27 defeat against Arlington on the 21st. As for Southwind, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-46 loss against Houston on the 21st.
