Softball Recap: Hope's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Hope dropped their record down to 5-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 23-16 to the Classical Purple. The Blue Wave were not able to make up for their defeat to the Purple from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Sharleney Ferreiras Belen and Angeline Pardo did some serious damage despite the final result: Ferreiras Belen got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, while Pardo went 3-for-4 with three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Scaydi Alcequiez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

As for Classical, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The result was nothing new for Classical, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Classical's side, Astrid Santos Adames and Amya Manston did most of the damage at the plate: Santos Adames got two hits, while Manston got four hits. Manston has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amelia Mendez, who got three hits.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hope beat Classical by a score of 41-15 on Saturday.
