Basketball Recap: Pinnacle Takes a Loss

Pinnacle played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 74-47 defeat at the hands of the O'Connor Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Eagles are ranked seventh).

When it comes to explaining why Pinnacle lost, don't look at Ryan Nelson. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points along with five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Connor Corey, who had seven points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Pinnacle and nudges their season record down to 8-16. As for O'Connor, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Pinnacle has already played their next game, a 76-70 loss against Liberty on the 13th. As for O'Connor, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 80-65 victory against Mountain Ridge on the 12th.
