Recap: Harrison Raiders vs. Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos
The Harrison Raiders had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They put the hurt on Lafayette Jefferson with a sharp 53-32 victory. Given Harrison's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Lafayette Jefferson is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riley Whitlock continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Harrison's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Ahnert, who scored seven points along with six assists and six steals.
Despite the loss, Lafayette Jefferson saw an underclassman step up: Shaylee Barrett scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lafayette Jefferson struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Harrison is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Lafayette Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing McCutcheon the next time they take the court. Lafayette Jefferson will host McCutcheon at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Harrison will head out to face them at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
