Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Extends Winning Streak to Six

Blue Ridge lost to St. Anne's-Belfield back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Blue Ridge Barons managed a 61-57 victory over the St. Anne's-Belfield Saints. The win almost wasn't to be: the Barons were down 50-36 in the third quarter.

Blue Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dreylan Creasy-Quirindoongo, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby White, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points per game. As for St. Anne's-Belfield, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hargrave Military Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Hargrave Military Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests. As for St. Anne's-Belfield, they will welcome Webb at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Webb will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something St. Anne's-Belfield surely won't give up without a fight.
