Sandwich is 1-8 against Morris since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Redskins at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Sandwich has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Sandwich had just enough and edged out Plano 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Reapers: they've now won nine in a row.

Brooklyn Marks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kayden Corneils was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Paige Danner also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Sandwich was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plano only posted a batting average of .226.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Morris' offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of LaSalle-Peru on Monday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Redskins were not able to get on the board.
Morris saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devin Shenberg, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Sandwich picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Morris, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sandwich has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Morris struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Sandwich skirted past Morris 3-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
