Volleyball Recap: Wray Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Wray and Burlington, and Burlington kept the tradition alive. The Eagles fell 3-1 to the Cougars on Tuesday. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-17, 14-25, 25-16.

Mariah DeLand paced Wray's offense, picking up 11 kills. DeLand got some help from Emerson Rockwell and her 12 assists. DeLand was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Wray has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Burlington, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Wray will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brush at 10:00 a.m. on the 18th. As for Burlington, they will take on Lone Star at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
