Preview: Rutland Hurricanes vs. Academy for Classical Education Gryphons
Rutland is 3-0 against the Gryphons since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rutland Hurricanes will be playing at home against the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons at 7:30 p.m. Academy for Classical Education took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Rutland, who comes in off a win.
Even though Jordan scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, Rutland still came out on top. Rutland pulled ahead with a 64-63 photo finish over the Red Jackets.
Rutland can attribute much of their success to Xavier Taylor, who scored 22 points, and Keadon Knight, who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Academy for Classical Education suffered a tough 74-50 defeat at the hands of the Chargers on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Academy for Classical Education in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now lost four in a row.
Rutland is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Academy for Classical Education, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-15.
Rutland didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Gryphons in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 65-61 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Academy for Classical Education's Camden Bailey, who scored 24 points.
