Baseball Recap: East Central Drops Season-High Score on Connersville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Central). They walked away with a 15-11 victory over the Connersville Spartans on Monday. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Cole Reynolds made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for East Central: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Reynolds was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, East Central got a massive performance out of Noah Long, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Long is becoming a predictor of the Trojans' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Collin Harrill, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and two doubles.

The victory got East Central back to even at 4-4. As for Connersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Connersville will challenge Union County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a three-game losing streak. East Central will be paying especially close attention to Connersville's contest: after Connersville faces off against Union County, they'll take on East Central again at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
