Baseball Game Preview: East Central Hornets vs. Laurel Golden Tornadoes

For the second straight game, East Central will face off against Laurel. The Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Tornadoes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East Central has five straight victories, Laurel has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Laurel's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: East Central hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Hornets never let the Golden Tornadoes get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Friday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Hornets this season.

East Central got a massive performance out of Anthony Tanner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Tanner a new career-high. Matthew Combs was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

East Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

East Central now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Laurel, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.
