Baseball Recap: West Bend West Spartans vs. Grafton Black Hawks
West Bend West lost against Grafton back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Spartans took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Black Hawks. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
West Bend West got a good showing from Maddex Welzien, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Welzien has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mason Micksch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.
West Bend West's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Grafton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
