Basketball Recap: East Alton-Wood River Takes a Loss

East Alton-Wood River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 59-44 bruising from the Marquette Catholic Explorers. While losing is never fun, the Oilers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Explorers are ranked 198th).

East Alton-Wood River's defeat dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Marquette Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.

East Alton-Wood River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 39-16 loss against Wesclin on the 10th. Marquette Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
