Basketball Game Preview: Gilmer Buckeyes vs. Spring Hill Panthers

The Gilmer Buckeyes are taking a road trip to square off against the Spring Hill Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gilmer will be strutting in after a win while Spring Hill will be coming in after a defeat.

Gilmer is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Cumberland Academy 83-31 on Tuesday. The Buckeyes haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Spring Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chapel Hill. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1199th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 206th).

Spring Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 5-21. As for Gilmer, their win bumped their record up to 12-16.

Gilmer beat Spring Hill 50-38 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buckeyes since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
