Basketball Game Preview: Neumann Celtics vs. Golden Gate Titans

Neumann is 1-7 against Golden Gate since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Neumann Celtics will head out to square off against the Golden Gate Titans at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, Neumann was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 66-61 to Gulf Coast.

Meanwhile, Golden Gate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Bishop Verot, falling 74-51. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Vikings are ranked 125th).

Neumann will have to contain Sam Powell as he made an impact in Golden Gate's last game. He posted 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Orville Salomon, who scored six points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Golden Gate smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Golden Gate's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Neumann, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Neumann came up short against Golden Gate in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 52-47. Can Neumann avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
