Baseball Recap: Lower Lake Trojans vs. Fort Bragg Timberwolves

Lower Lake had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it 13. They lost 21-2 to the Fort Bragg Timberwolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Timberwolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Friday.

Lower Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Shields, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Fort Bragg, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3. Considering they have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Fort Bragg's side, Donavyn Ivey made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Ivey posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other pitching news, Tyler Casey looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Fort Bragg got a massive performance out of Chris Hernandez, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits Hernandez has posted since back in March of 2024. Dane Salo was another key player, going 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Lower Lake wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-8 victory against Middletown on the 29th. As for Fort Bragg, they have also already played their next game, a 6-3 win against Clear Lake on the 29th.
